Unconventionally Conventional |Cappucchino

Although this review has been pending for a very long time now, my experience at Cappuccino was unforgettable. So when Cappuccino, one of the popular restaurants in Crowne Plaza came out with a new menu, some of us foodies were invited to check it out. Dishes from

The menu called Unconventionally Conventional, comprises of dishes both classic and contemporary that have been choice fully chosen from a global menu.

STARTERS

The Super food salad with lettuce, diced apples and tomatoes topped with roasted flaxseeds and a lemon honey and black pepper dressing was just great. It was presented so beautifully in a glass jar and the very sight would make even people who done enjoy salads want to try it.

The thick and creamy Mushroom soup with thyme was simply too good. The garlic olive oil enhanced the taste of the soup. It was so delicious that I cleaned the bowl clean. If you love mushrooms, then you will go-gaga over this. I didn’t quite enjoy the Asian summer rolls which were thin rice paper rolls stuffed with crispy vegetables, sprouts and ragi.

Another great starter was the crispy fried prawns and squid called Cicchietti served with remoulade sauce. Prawns and squid become rubbery when overcooked but this dish was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and surprisingly not oily.

MAIN COURSE

Tagliatelle, pasta with wild mushrooms and truffle sauce was unlike any pasta that I have had before. It was not like the usual creamy white sauce pasta. It was a little greasy because of the truffle oil but again that’s what made it taste even better. It was just brilliant.

Next up was the classic Shepherd’s pie. The lamb filling was packed with flavour and the mashed potato topping was also seasoned generously with butter and herbs.

The One meter pizza with various toppings was good. Apart from being a meter long nothing very great about it though. The Southern fried chicken was crispy and had a tangy taste because of the spices coating the chicken. Loved it.

DESSERTS

The Hazelnut crème brulee with candied figs was too sweet for me.  My favourite was the Tiramisu. Everything about it tasted so fresh and good. The Chocolate cheesecake which was quite rich with dense dark chocolate was another dessert all of us enjoyed.
